Tuesday, February 28th, 2012The Final Howdy Doody Episode: “Clarabelle Speaks!”
Wednesday, February 1st, 2012This was the series finale to Howdy Doody, an hour long special which was hyped by Clarabelle the clown’s ‘surprise’, and it being that it was the final episode of a landmark children’s series, they had the famous silent clown actually talk. Now when Clarabelle talked, he said ‘Goodbye, Kids.’ in a very soft and tearful expression, which just adds to the sadness of knowing there would be no more of Howdy Doody, with the exception of a few appearances by Buffalo Bob Smith and the titular character himself, Howdy Doody. This is the end of Howdy Doody, and it is truly a sad farewell. Note: If you listen hard enough, or just turn up the volume, you can actually hear children in the audience softly crying, which in my opinion, makes this all the more heartbreaking and sad, yes it’s just a show, but a extremely beloved show that was idolized by the children of the United States.
